Thank you also to the Foundation Stage for the wonderful tea and cake!I attended the first meetings in Dartmouth today of the consultation on the future of our Community Services and Community Hospitals . Other meetings will be held and to view the full list of locations and dates please use the following link It is important for as many people as possible to contribute directly to the consultation as decisions made at the end of this consultation will impact on NHS services for years to come, so it is important that all parts of the community get involved and you can do so through the following website . If you are unable to complete an online submission a paper copy is available on request by writing to South Devon and Torbay CCG, Pomona House, Torquay, TQ2 7FF, or calling 01803 652511.
I started the day with a visit to Torbay Hospital Emergency Department to hear about the great progress they are making. It was good to hear that CQC has assessed Torbay Hospital Urgent and Eemergency Services and the medicine specialties as overall Good. This afternoon I held an advice surgery at the Great Parks Community Centre in Paignton. They are currently based at The Network of Wellbeing's office, 16 High Street, Totnes, TQ9 5RY.The Share Shed is a 'library of things' where people can borrow all sorts of useful things, ranging from ladders, drills, carpet cleaners, camping and gardening equipment, sewing machines, and much more!A great day out at Brixham today at the Fishstock Festival where the new fish quay is transformed overnight for this unique 24-hour food and music festival.
An army of volunteer helpers work long hours to turn the state-of-the-art fish market into a fantastic one-day festival venue.
The project enables local people to borrow items at nominal cost so that they don't have to buy them for themselves.
The aim is to build a more resourceful community, allowing people to connect with each other and share things they may need just once in a while.
The event runs from 10am until midnight on the Saturday, when the volunteer army set about transforming it back into a working fish market as if by magic.... I recently met with Andy Moreman the new Chief Executive of Young Devon at my office in Totnes.
I was really interested to hear about the work they do concerning the health and wellbeing of young people, especially in light of the issues of rural isolation we face in this area.
Lovely to be back at Kingsbridge Community College for wide ranging Q&A session with year 13, College Council pupils and to meet Haseeba to share views on the NHS and public health.
